In 2006, Canadian Idol will unfold a little differently. The show will go to air with the first three weeks showing highlights of the audition tour. On Monday the 19th and Tuesday the 20th of June, highlights from the theater round in Toronto will screen where the 212 gold ticket winners will be whittled down to 22 semi-finalists.
On the 26th of June, the 100th episode of Canadian Idol will air with a live performances from the Top 22 before we all go to the phones to vote. Much like the American Idol series, two groups of 11 will perform over two nights with the results being revealed on the third night in a 30 minute elimination show where 4 will be sent home.
On the week of July 3, the remaining 18 contestants will be split into two groups of nine and over two nights, they will perform for your vote with the results being announced on an elimination show on the third night with an additional 4 contestants being sent home.
For the week beginning the 10th of July, the remaining 14 contestants will get one more chance at earning a place in the top 10 over two nights with the results being announced on the third elimination show.
The Top 10 will return on the week of July 17 for the first show at Toronto's John Bassett Theatre where for the next 9 week, one person will be sent home until we have our next Canadian Idol.
